The Impact Unleashed: 6+ Years of #PeriodCupCause by Upasana Society NGO

Objective of PeriodCupCause:

The primary objective of the #PeriodCupCause is to promote menstrual hygiene awareness among both men and women. We also extend our support to underprivileged individuals who often struggle to afford menstrual cups, which are not readily available in local medical stores and are primarily sold online, limiting their accessibility. To fund our campaign, we organize informative sessions in various settings, including cities, organizations, schools, colleges, and privileged communities.

Impact

For over six years now, the #PeriodCupCause campaign by Upasana Society NGO has been silently but profoundly changing lives, reshaping mindsets, and making the world a better place, one menstrual cup at a time. Spearheaded by the indomitable duo, Ms. Dipti Kashalkar and Mr. Saurabh Kashalkar, this initiative has left an indelible mark on communities, transcending boundaries, and sparking a ripple effect that continues to grow.

500+ Offline Sessions: Covering Every Nook and Cranny

The dedication of this campaign knows no bounds. It has traversed the length and breadth of India, from schools and colleges to underprivileged areas, police stations, deserts, corporate offices, serene beaches, and towering mountains. These offline sessions have reached over 50,000 individuals directly, with countless more impacted indirectly through the powerful wave of awareness it has created.

4500+ Menstrual Cups Donated and Counting

The heart of #PeriodCupCause lies in its mission to provide sustainable menstrual solutions. To date, the campaign has donated more than 4,500 menstrual cups, with the numbers growing steadily thanks to the incredible support received. But the impact goes beyond numbers.

A Monumental Reduction in Waste: 5.4 Lakh Kgs of Waste Saved

The statistics are staggering: one girl/woman generates a colossal 144 kilograms of menstrual product waste in her lifetime. However, by switching to a menstrual cup, this waste is dramatically reduced. Taking an average of 120 kilograms per person, the #PeriodCupCause campaign has saved approximately 5.4 lakh kilograms of waste from polluting our environment.

Rs. 22.5 Crores Saved: A Testament to Empowerment

The impact of #PeriodCupCause transcends the environmental and enters the realm of economic empowerment. The financial savings achieved by using menstrual cups are astounding. On average, one can save up to Rs. 50,000 by making the switch from disposable sanitary pads. When calculated based on the number of cups donated, this translates to an astounding Rs. 22.5 crores saved collectively by women who have embraced this sustainable solution.
