SDAK- Sewing machines Donated in Dahanu

Sui Dhaga Aur Kapda Campaign Sewing Machine Donation Dahanu

Donation of Sewing Machines:

On April 22, 2018, Upasana Society NGO, in collaboration with generous donors, provided 8 brand new sewing machines to the tribal community in Dahanu.

The campaign encompasses:

  1. Clothes Gathering Initiative
  2. Sorting of Collected Clothes
  3. Distribution of Donated Clothes
  4. Identifying Individuals with Sewing Skills or Machines
  5. Fundraising for Sewing Machines, Training, and Logistics
  6. Allocation of Sewing Machines post Fund Collection
  7. Imparting Sewing Skills through Training
  8. Creating a Roster of Empowered Individuals based on Skills
  9. Compensating Empowered Individuals for Produced Items
  10. Distribution/Sale of Cloth Bags in Urban Areas to Minimize Single-Use Plastic Waste

Recycle, Reuse, and Empower:

This campaign signifies our commitment to recycling, reusing, and empowering. The sewing machines offer an avenue for the tribals to transform excess cloth into cloth bags, contributing to reduced plastic waste.

Creating Livelihoods:

These sewing machines empower tribals to earn a livelihood by crafting cloth bags. In turn, these bags are sold or distributed in urban areas, addressing the issue of one-time-use plastic bags.

Ongoing Impact:

The campaign is an ongoing effort that requires funds for sewing machines, essential materials, training in sewing skills, logistics, and miscellaneous expenses.

A Win-Win Solution:

The #SuiDhagaAurKapda Campaign creates a positive cycle of empowerment, sustainability, and waste reduction, benefiting both the tribals and the environment.

Special Thanks:

Special Thanks to all the volunteers and Mr. Saurabh Kashalkar & Ms. Dipti Kashalkar for their support to manage the event
