RotiDaan for Migrants in Mumbai during Covid19
Introduction:
In the midst of the challenging times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in June 2020, Upasana Society NGO took a heartfelt initiative to support and nourish migrants and the underprivileged through the Roti Daan Campaign. With the support of compassionate individuals and societies in Borivali, Dahisar, and Kandivali, this campaign aimed to provide freshly made rotis to those in need. The collective effort and dedication of volunteers, along with the inspiring messages added to each pack of rotis, brought smiles and hope to the distressed.
A Community United:
In the face of adversity, the communities in Borivali, Dahisar, and Kandivali stepped up to lend a helping hand. Every morning, individuals from these societies came together to make fresh, homemade rotis for the migrants and the underprivileged. The spirit of unity and compassion fueled their determination to make a difference, demonstrating the power of community support during challenging times.
Nourishing Bodies and Souls:
The response from the community was overwhelming, as the campaign collected close to 6,000 homemade rotis from the generous societies. In addition to the rotis, the campaign also received mixed vegetable packets from other donors. With the help of a hired cook, the vegetable packets were heated and spiced up to add a flavorful touch. Volunteers then joined forces to load the warm vegetables and freshly made rotis, creating nourishing meals for those heading back to their villages due to curfews and restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
Inspiring Messages of Hope:
One of the remarkable aspects of the Roti Daan Campaign was the inclusion of inspiring messages on the packs of rotis. The volunteers took the time to add heartfelt notes, bringing not only nourishment but also uplifting words to the recipients. These messages became a source of encouragement and a reminder that they were not alone in their struggles. It was a beautiful gesture that touched the hearts of both the volunteers and the recipients.
Bringing Smiles to the Distressed:
The combined efforts of individuals, societies, volunteers, and donors created a ripple effect of positivity and support. Through their collective time and effort, they brought smiles to the faces of the distressed. The simple act of providing nourishing meals and inspiring messages became a beacon of hope and compassion during these challenging times.
Special Thanks:
A big shoutout and heartfelt thanks to the incredible Mr. Saurabh Kashalkar & Ms. Dipti Kashalkar for their active participation and bring success to the campaign and event.
