Join the Prekking Revolution to Asherigad Fort: Making a Change, One Step at a Time

Upasana Society NGO is excited to share an inspiring update from our recent Prekking event at Asherigad Fort, Palghar, on July 1, 2018. Prekking is more than just picking up trash; it’s a call for conscious change and a step towards a cleaner environment.

Event Details:

Date: July 1, 2018
Location: Asherigad Fort, Palghar

A Step Beyond Cleanup:

Our dedicated volunteers embarked on a trek with a purpose – to not only clean up the area but also to prevent further littering. During the trek, our volunteers carried cloth bags made by underprivileged individuals, adding an extra layer to our environmental mission. These cloth bags were used to collect plastic waste, highlighting the importance of recycling and reducing plastic pollution. To maintain hygiene standards, reusable rubber gloves were also provided to the participants.

Driving Change, One Bag at a Time:

To support the cause and ensure the success of the campaign, a nominal fee was charged to acquire more cloth bags and other logistical essentials. This endeavor aligns with our broader objective of environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

A Startling Reality:

During the event, we encountered a startling reality – the prevalent habit of littering even in pristine locations. People were found discarding empty water and cold drink bottles in the beautiful lakes and surrounding areas of Asherigad Fort. This stark reminder of our destructive habits propelled us to spread awareness about responsible waste disposal.

Small Steps, Big Impact:

Our Prekkers team might be small in number, but we’re committed to making a significant change. We firmly believe that even a single individual can create an impact. By using carabiners to hang cloth bags on our backpacks, our hands were kept free for the task at hand. These cloth bags, an integral part of our “Sui Dhaga Aur Kapda” empowerment campaign, are handmade by tribal women.

Recognizing Our Efforts:

Our Prekking initiative received recognition in Bombay Times (Page 3) of the Times of India on July 2, 2018. This acknowledgment is a testament to the importance of our collective efforts in fostering a cleaner and greener world.

Join us in this movement for change! Let’s continue our journey of making a difference, one step at a time. Together, we can inspire conscious habits and leave a positive impact on our environment. To read the article in Bombay Times, visit the following link: Article Link
